Bangalore - The Silicon Valley of India TOP

Bangalore, the capital city of Southern state of Karnataka is by far the fastest developing cities in India. Bangalore has been recently rechristened as 'Bengaluru' ¬ its histrionic name. This city is famous for its gardens and parks thus earning it the name of 'Garden City of India'. Located at a convenient distance from Mumbai (998 kms) and Hyderabad (562 kms), Bangalore is 3,113 feet (949 m) above sea level, on top of a ridge in the Karnataka plateau.

The main highlight of the city resides in the various heritage monuments that attract tourist to enjoy a vacation in Bangalore. Bangalore which means 'town of baked beans' was founded by Kempe Gowda, a  chieftain of  the  Vijayanagar  Empire,  around  the  16th  century. He built four

                Ooty (Udhagamandalam) TOP

Ooty is known as the “Queen of Hill Stations.” Udhagamandalam (Ooty), the capital of Nilgiri district, is popularly known as the "Queen of hill stations' among the tourist circuits. It is situated at a distance of 105 km away from Coimbatore. The height of the hills in the Nilgiri range varies between 2280 and 2290 metres, the highest peak being Doddabetta at a height of 2623 metres.
The Tea

The  establishment  of  numerous  tea  estates  made  Ooty  famous.  Lofty mountains, dense forest,
sprawling grasslands and miles and miles of tea gardens greet the passengers on most routes. The annual Tea and Tourism Festival attracts crowds in huge numbers. Visit Ooty during this festival, when tea lovers from all over the world converge. An occasion not to be missed!

Co-operative Super Market and Municipal Market are some of the best places for shopping fruits and general groceries. Kairali of Kerala Handicrafts and Poompuhar of Tamil Nadu Handicrafts have their showrooms near to Super Market Buildings on Charring Cross.

Fairs & Festivals - Udhagamandalam Summer Festivals TOP

A summer festival is held each year during the month of May in the Botanical Gardens, which is anadded
attraction for tourists. The Flower Show is the pride of the festival. Cultural programmes are organised for those interested in traditional classical arts. Adventure spots like trekking also form part of the festival.
Miniature Train Ride

One of the most interesting things about coming to Ooty is the trip up on the miniature train. There are outstanding views of the Nilgiri Hills. The best views are on the left going up and the right coming down. A unique thing about this train is the locomotive is in the back, which pushes the train up the hill instead of pulling it up. It passes through 16 tunnels and goes over 250 bridges.

The train runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty going via Coonoor.

The Rose Garden is situated about 3 to 4-km away from Charring Cross. Mini garden is also situated on the way to the boathouse where the children amusement park is housed.

There are regular bus services connecting Ooty to Coimbatore, Trichy, Bangalore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Mysore, Calicut, Tirupati etc.

located amidst the folds of the verdant Pali hills is one of the most popular serene hill stations in India, which mesmerises any visitor. With her wooded slopes, mighty rocks, enhancing waterfalls and a beautiful lake, Kodaikanal is a charming hill station.

Kodai is situated at an altitude of about 2,133-m high and covers an area of 21.45-sq-km. The hill town is renowned for its educational institutions of international repute. The pride of Kodaikanal is the 'Kurinji-flower', which blossoms once in 12 years. The hill-plantain fruits and plums are known for their freshness and taste.

Berijam Lake TOP

Berijam Lake located at a distance of 21-km from Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu is one among the beautiful lakes of South India. Spread over an area of 24 hectares, the lake is star shaped and is known for its pure water.
